Creationism; still waiting for scientific evidence

Theres an enormous amount of time and effort being spent towards the advancement of the Christian version of creationism, not to mention the clout necessary to sustain this persisting movement. I searched but could not find how much it actually cost the US taxpayers each year to defend against the intrusion of this pseudo-science. I sure would like to know that total! For that matter, it would be interesting to know how much taxpayer money goes toward making the government abide by their own rules set by the constitution. Hell, the percentage of those cases would probably shock everybody. Anyway, all that effort by creationists and theres still not a single morsel of scientific evidence supporting it. If you know something we all don't please answer the following question;

Church of Scientology convicted of fraud in France

PARIS A Paris court convicted the Church of Scientology of fraud and fined it more than euro600,000 ($900,000) on Tuesday, but stopped short of banning the group's activities.

The group's French branch said it would appeal the verdict.

The court convicted the Church of Scientology's French office, its library and six of its leaders of organized fraud. Investigators said the group pressured members into paying large sums of money for questionable financial gain and used "commercial harassment" against recruits.

The group was fined euro400,000 ($600,000) and the library euro200,000. Four of the leaders were given suspended sentences of between 10 months and two years. The other two were given fines of euro1,000 and euro2,000.

Prosecutors had urged that the group be disbanded in France and fined euro2 million. A law that was briefly on the books this year prevented the court from going so far as to disband the French branch of Scientology in Tuesday's verdict though it could have taken the lesser step of shutting down its operations.

However, the court did not do so, ruling that French Scientologists would have continued their activities anyway "outside any legal framework."

A spokeswoman for the French branch of Scientology, Agnes Bron, said the verdict was "an Inquisition of modern times," a reference to efforts to rout out heretics of the Roman Catholic Church in centuries past.

"It's really all bark and no bite," said the spokesman of the Church of Scientology International, Tommy Davis. "The church will emerge victorious on appeal."

Speaking by telephone from New York, Davis said the Church of Scientology was prepared to take the case to the European Court of Human Rights.

The head of a French association that helps victims of sects called the verdict "intelligent."

"Scientology can no longer hide behind freedom of conscience," Catherine Picard said.

The Los Angeles-based Church of Scientology, founded in 1954 by the late science fiction writer L. Ron Hubbard, has been active for decades in Europe, but has struggled to gain status as a religion. It is considered a sect in France and has faced prosecution and difficulties in registering its activities in many countries.

Defense lawyer Patrick Maisonneuve said during the trial that neither the Church of Scientology nor the six leaders on trial had gained financially from the group's practices.

The original complaint in the case dates back more than a decade, when a young woman said she took out loans and spent the equivalent of euro21,000 on books, courses and "purification packages" after being recruited in 1998. When she sought reimbursement and to leave the group, its leadership refused. She was among three eventual plaintiffs.

Olivier Morice, lawyer for civil parties in the case, said the verdict was "historic" because it was the first time in France that the Church of Scientology has been convicted of organized fraud.

Investigating Judge Jean-Christophe Hullin spent years examining the group's activities, and in his indictment criticized what he called the Scientologists' "obsession" with financial gain and practices he said were aimed at plunging members into a "state of subjection."

The Church of Scientology teaches that technology can expand the mind and help solve problems. It claims 10 million members around the world, including celebrity devotees Tom Cruise and John Travolta.

Belgium, Germany and other European countries have been criticized by the U.S. State Department for labeling Scientology as a cult or sect and enacting laws to restrict its operations.

I got some points to question you guys.. your God,Buddha said that humans could live 10,000 years in a life at the time of Katsapa God ( the god before Buddha).. huh? but.. Scientists have proved that Humans average life years never reached to 100 yet.. So.. how do you think about that? We humans could live 10,000 years in a life? haha LOL ! :'laugh2

another question.. , umm .. you know.. Your God(Buddha) said that.. he was animals for many lives in his life cycle.. and.. in one of his life, (according to your Buddhism stories) when he was a deer, he just walked into a trap.. and.. He spoke to the hunter to let him go.. yeah.. . something I wonder is.. Why that animal(Buddha) Deer can speak human language? huh? I can't see any deer speaking human language in the zoo.. hehe.. Why's that?

And.. again.. your Buddha said.. he was a dragon for several lives.. but.. you know.. that.. Dragons were just a myth .. an imaginary creature of Culture.. There's no species such as dragons.. how do you think that? your Buddha was lying ,huh?

And.. Buddha said.. that.. monks ,his follower will be able to fly and foresee if they meditate. yeah.. and.. I can see a lot of monks meditating for their whole lives.. but..

"The Central Wisconsin parents convicted in their daughter's death will not go to prison but will spend ten years on probation and some time in jail.

A judge sentenced Dale and Leilani Neumann Tuesday afternoon for the death of their eleven-year-old daughter Kara. She died of complications from untreated diabetes while her parents prayed over her instead of seeking medical attention as her condition worsened.

Earlier this year, separate juries found each of the parents guilty of second-degree reckless homicide, a charge that carries up to 25 years in prison.

Both parents spoke to the judge at their sentencing hearing, calling Kara's death an act of God, reading Biblical passages, and saying the only thing they're guilty of is following their faith"....Read

It's been 55 years since the Miller-Urey Experiment, and science has made enormous progress on solving the origin of life. This video summarizes one of the best leading models. Yes there are others. Science may never know exactly how life DID start, but we will know many ways how life COULD start. Don't be fooled by creationist arguments as even a minimal understanding of biology and chemistry is enough to realize they have no clue what they are talking about.

Note on how competition works. Water will flow across a membrane to try to equalize the ion concentration. If there is a lot of polymer in a vesicle it will be surrounded by many ions, thus causing water to flow into the vesicle, increasing the internal pressure and stretching the membrane. Fatty acids are in equilibrium between the vesicle and solution. If 2 vesicles are near one another they will gradually swap fatty acids. If one membrane is under tension, the fatty acid "on rate" will be greater than the "off rate" (move to a lower energy state by relaxing the pressure). It will suck up fatty acids from solution. The other vesicle will still give them off, but they will disappear (sucked up by neighbor) and not return. Therefore, the vesicle with high internal pressure will grow and the neighbor will shrink."
